The 6th World Patient Safety Day was celebrated under the theme “Safe Diagnostics for Complete Health.
The event took place at St. Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College, attended by representatives from the Ministry of Health, the World Health Organization, and other stakeholders.
The primary objective of the program was to raise awareness about the negative impact of diagnostic errors on patient safety, as well as the positive effects of accurate diagnosis.
During a panel discussion, Mrs. Yeabsera Zelalem, a representative from the Parkinson’s Patients Support Organization Ethiopia, highlighted that Parkinson’s patients are particularly vulnerable to delayed or incorrect diagnoses. She emphasized that these errors significantly affect both patients and their families.
To address this issue, Mrs. Yeabsera urged patient associations and rights advocates to increase awareness among patients and their families. She stressed the importance of patient and family engagement through every stage of the diagnostic process to ensure patient diagnostic safety and to minimize diagnostic error.

6ተኛው የአለም የህሙማን ደህንነት ቀን “ደህንነቱ የተረጋገጠ ምርመራ ለተሟላ ጤንነት” በሚል መሪ ቃል ተከበረ፡፡
በቅዱስ ጳውሎስ ሆስፒታል ሚሊኒየም ሜዲካል ኮሌጅ የጤና ሚኒስቴር ፣ የአለም የጤና ድርጅት ተወካይ እና ሌሎች ባለድርሻ አካላት በተገኙበት በድምቀት ተከብሯል፡፡
የፕሮግራሙ ዋነኛ አላማ በምርመራ ወቅት የሚከሰቱ ስህተቶች የህሙማን ደህንነት ላይ ያላቸውን አሉታዊ ተጽዕኖ እንዲሁም ትክክለኛ ምርመራ ለህሙማን ደህንነት ያለውን በጎ ተጽዕኖ በተመለከተ ግንዛቤ መፍጠር ነው፡፡
በእለቱ በተደረገው የፓናል ውይይት ላይ ፓርኪንሰን ፔሽንትስ ሰፖርት ኦርጋናይዜሽን ኢትዮጲያ ተወካይ ወይዘሮ የአብስራ ዘላለም በመሳተፍ በተለይም የፓርኪንሰንስ ህሙማን ለዘገየና ለተሳሳተ ምርመራ ተጋላጭ መሆናችውን በመግለጽ በዚህም ምክኒያት ህሙማን እና ቤተሰቦቻቸው ከፍተኛ ተጽእኖ እየደረሰባቸው በመሆኑ ትኩረት እንዲሰጠው ጠይቀዋል፡፡ እንዲሁም ይህን ችግር ለመቅረፍ የህሙማን ማህበራት እና የመብት ተሟጋቾች ለህሙማን ግንዛቤን በመፍጠር ህሙማን እና ቤተሰባቸው በምርመራ ወቅት እያንዳንዱን የምርመራ ሂደት በመከታተል ፤ በመጠየቅ፤ በዝርዝር በማውቅ እና በመሳተፍ የምርመራ ደህንነታቸውን እንዲያስጠብቁ ለማስቻል በጋር መስራት እንደሚገባቸው አሳስበዋል፡፡
