PPSOE Celebrates Founder Kibra Kebede’s International Recognition

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia | November 5, 2026

The Parkinson’s Patients Support Organization Ethiopia (PPSOE) held a special celebration at its office on November 5 to honor its founder, Kibra Kebede, following her receipt of the prestigious Public Service Award from the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society (MDS).

The gathering brought together members of the PPSOE community, including people living with Parkinson’s disease, caregivers, members of Kibra’s family, and representatives of the Association of Ethiopian Neurologists. It was a meaningful occasion marked by appreciation, solidarity, and shared pride in an achievement that brings recognition to Ethiopia’s Parkinson’s community.

 During the ceremony, Dr. Seblewongel Asmare, President of the Association of Ethiopian Neurologists, and Dr. Selam Kefelew, Vice President, officially presented the award plaque to Kibra. Dr. Selam had previously received the plaque on Kibra’s behalf during the MDS International Congress in South Korea.

The two representatives also presented Kibra with a congratulatory gift on behalf of the Association, recognizing her dedication and contributions to supporting people living with Parkinson’s disease.

Although the award recognizes Kibra’s individual contributions, its significance extends beyond personal achievement. It reflects the importance of sustained efforts to advance Parkinson’s awareness, advocacy, support, and care in Ethiopia.

For PPSOE and its community, the celebration was an opportunity not only to recognize Kibra’s achievement but also to acknowledge the collective efforts of individuals, families, healthcare professionals, and partners working to improve the lives of people affected by Parkinson’s disease.

የወይዘሮ ክብራ ከበደን ዓለም አቀፍ እውቅና የሚዘክር ፕሮግራም ተካሄደ

የድርጅታችን መስራች ወይዘሮ ክብራ ከበደ ከአለም አቀፍ የፓርኪንሰን እና የእንቅስቃሴ መታወክ ማህበር (MDS) ያገኙትን የህዝብ አገልግሎት ሽልማት (Public Service Award) ለመዘከር ጥቅምት 26 ቀን 2019 ዓ.ም በድርጅታችን ቢሮ ደማቅ የምስጋናና የደስታ መርሃ-ግብር አዘጋጅቷል። 

በዚሁ የምስጋና መርሃ-ግብር ላይ የፓርኪንሰን ሕመምተኞች፣ አስታማሚዎች፣ የክብራ ቤተሰቦች እና የኢትዮጵያ ኒውሮሎጂስቶች ማህበር ተወካዮች የተገኙ ሲሆን፣ አጋጣሚውም ታላቅ የጋራ ኩራትና ደስታ የተንጸባረቀበት ነበር። 

በመድረኩም የኢትዮጵያ ኒውሮሎጂስቶች ማህበር ምክትል ፕሬዝዳንት ዶ/ር ሰላም ክፍለው በደቡብ ኮሪያ በተካሄደው ዓለም አቀፍ ጉባኤ ላይ በመገኘት በወይዘሮ ክብራ ስም የተቀበሉትን የሽልማት ሰሌዳ ለባለቤቷ ያስረከቡ ሲሆን፣ ማህበሩም ለወይዘሮ ክብራ ላበረከቱት የላቀ አስተዋጽኦ እውቅና የሚሰጥ የደስታ መግለጫ ስጦታ አበርክቶላቸዋል። 

ይህ አለማቀፋዊ እውቅና የድርጅታችን መስራች ላበረከቱት አስተዋጾ የተሰጠ ቢሆንም፣ ፋይዳው ከግለሰብ ባለፈ በኢትዮጵያ የሚገኙ ሕመምተኞችን፣ አስታማሚዎች፣ የጤና ባለሙያዎችን እና የመላው የፓርኪንሰን ማህበረሰብን ጽናትና የጋራ ጥረት የሚያንጸባርቅ ታላቅ ድል ነው። 

የድርጅታችን ማኔጅመንትና ቤተሰቦች ለወይዘሮ ክብራ ከበደ እንኳን ደስ አለዎት እያልን፣ ይህ ሽልማት ለመላው የኢትዮጵያ የፓርኪንሰን ማህበረሰብ አዲስ ተስፋና መነሳሳት እንደሚሆን እናምናለን።
